2012 NWCA Stillwater
Regional
On February 12, 2012, Gallagher-Iba Arena will become one of four host
sites for the 2012 NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals Presented by Hibiclens
and The Marines. Better known to many as Mat Mayhem, this regional event
will feature a fair share of talented line-ups.
The six teams competing in Stillwater are: Boise State, Chattanooga,
Nebraska (No. 21), Ohio State (No. 6), Oklahoma State (No. 2) and
Wyoming (No. 14).
Oklahoma State, who will host and compete in this event, boasts
thirty-four NCAA Team Championships in their program's history and is
most likely to be the top ranked team in the region according to the
NWCA/USA Today Coaches Poll.
"Fans can expect to see tough, tough wrestling. It is late in the
season and the athletes will be at the top of their game. All ten
athletes are important, how you lose, if you get bonus points or pins
make a difference in the dual meet score. All ten athletes are involved
in the outcome of the team's performance," said Oklahoma State Head
Coach John Smith.

Regional Format
Each region will have three rounds with the teams being seeded 1-6. In
the first round, seeds 1 and 2 will receive a bye with seeds 3 and 6 and
4 and 5 wrestling each other.
The winners from the first round matches will move into the
semifinals for round 2 against the 1st and 2nd seed. The winners of the
semifinal matches will then advance to the final round. At the same time
the final round is being wrestled, the first round teams that lost will
wrestle their second match.
The bracket for the 2012 Stillwater Regional can be found at the
bottom of this page.
Note: An optional consolation dual may take place at 5:00 PM at the
discretion of the participating teams.
Odd-numbered duals will be
contested on Mat 1. Even-numbered duals will take place on Mat 2.
The
NWCA will provide the seeds for each region. These will be based off of
the NWCA/USA Today Coaches Poll that is released on February 7, 2012.
The champions of each region will advance to the final four
championships at a site TBD. The NWCA will have a site location in place
by Sunday, February 12. The seeding for the top four teams will be based
off the NWCA coaches ranking that will be released on February 14.
