Oklahoma State’s wrestling team advance to semifinal action of the National Duals Saturday night inside Cleveland State’s Convocation Center.
The Cowboys used a pair of falls by Johny Hendricks and Tyrone Lewis to drop Oklahoma, 29-10, during the quarterfinals.
Hendricks had a 4-1 lead in the second period before hooking up the snake on Matt Grice in 4:00, while Tyrone Lewis recorded his fifth consecutive fall after dropping Rafael Maturino in 17 seconds.
Zack Esposito recorded his fifth-straight win over a ranked opponent, and his second major decision of the tournament, with an 10-1 victory over Jeff Ecklof. Rusty Blackmon scored the Cowboys’ second major decision after scoring seven near fall points and a pair of takedowns over Joel Tapler.
The Cowboys received decisions from Johnny Thompson, Chris Pendleton and Jake Rosholt.
OSU will face Michigan for the first time since the 1997-98 season when they beat the Wolverines, 30-3. The Cowboys and Wolverines will face off for the seventh time at 8:30 p.m. (EST) inside the Convocation Center.
