TULSA, Okla. – Oklahoma State’s Cowboy track team braved bitterly cold temperatures and falling snow to kick off the outdoor portion of its season Saturday at the Tulsa Duels.
Cowboy junior Johnathan Stublaski recorded two second place finishes in the 200 meter dash and the 800 meter run. He notched times of 27.26 and 2:50.48, respectively.
Stublaski led the Cowboys across the line in both events, with Brad McNiff finishing third and Klaus Schmidt finishing fourth in the 200 meters. In the 800 meters, Schmidt finished third and McNiff finished fifth.
The Cowboys entered 10 runners in the 1,500 meter run, with senior David Chirchir notching a second-place finish. The Eldoret, Kenya, native crossed the line in 4:17.23.
Freshman Mark Nelson was the next Cowboy finisher in the 1,500 meters with a eighth-place finish in a time of 4:26.69.
The Cowboys return to action next weekend at the Stanford Invitational on Friday and Saturday and the Arkansas Spring Break meet on Saturday.
