Nov. 4, 2012

LAS VEGAS - Oklahoma State's Rifat Biktyakov defeated the University of Arizona's Keiren Thompson 7-5, 6-2 to win the singles championship at the Larry Easley Memorial Classic.

The win marked Bikyakov's first career singles title and pushed his overall ITA record on the year to 7-2. The junior went a perfect 3-0 throughout the tournament, without losing a single set.

"I'm proud of Rifat on how he has been performing lately," head coach Jay Udwadia said. "He's put in some good hard work this semester and deserved to win the tournament this weekend."

Biktyakov and the Cowboys will look to turn the victory into continued success as they head to Florida next weekend for the Sarasota Invitational.
