STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma State men’s tennis team returns home this weekend for a pair of Big 12 matches against Texas Tech on Friday and Baylor on Sunday, both scheduled for 2 p.m., at the DeBois Tennis Complex.
The Cowboys are 7-10 this season and 0-2 in conference play. They are coming off of a 6-1 defeat against No. 24 Tulsa on April 4.
OSU features No. 100 Vlad Bondarenko in singles, who has a 7-5 record on the year and a 1-1 record in conference competition. The senior has beaten two ranked opponents – No. 29 Alexis Klegou of Texas A&M and No. 83 Japie De Klerk of Tulsa – in his past three matches.
OSU’s first opponent, No. 20 Texas Tech, is 13-6 on the season and 2-0 in league play. The Red Raiders are led by No. 45 Gonzalo Escobar and No. 98 Raony Carvalho in singles play, as well as the No. 19 pairing of Carvalho and Escobar in doubles.
No. 28 Baylor enters the weekend with a 13-9 record and a 1-1 record in conference competition. The Bears are coming off of a 4-3 loss to No. 26 Tulsa on Wednesday. They will take on Oklahoma in Norman on Friday before heading to Stillwater for Sunday’s match up.
Baylor features No. 23 Mate Zsiga and No. 95. Roberto Maytin in singles play. The two also combine to form the No. 64 doubles pairing.
The Cowboys defeated Creighton, 6-1, in their only previous home dual this season on March 25.
