Senior looks to win singles championship on Sunday

SARASOTA, Fla. – Oklahoma State senior Vlad Bondarenko advanced to the final match in singles play at the 2011 Dick Vitale/Lakewood Ranch Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic on Saturday.
In the quarterfinal match, Bondarenko defeated Omar Aly of Miami, 6-4, 6-2. He followed that up by beating Julian Dehn of Minnesota. Bondarenko took the first set, 6-1, but Denn would answer, winning the second set, 6-3. Bondarenko took the decisive final set 6-0 to play to play for the tournament championship in singles play.
He will face No. 82 Justin Shane of Virginia on Sunday.
Sophomore Rifat Biktyakov lost his only match of the day in the second round of the singles consolation bracket, 6-2, 6-1, to Raphael Hemmler of Duke.
