TULSA, Okla. – Oklahoma State’s Oleksandr Nedovyesov made the most of his No. 1 seed in the Wilson/ITA Central Region Championships Monday, winning the singles championship and the doubles championship with partner Aleksey Bessonov.

In the singles championship, Nedovyesov won a close first set against Nebraska’s Christopher Aumueller, then dominated the second set for a 7-6 (7), 6-1, win. Nedovyesov won all six of his singles matches at the event in straight sets.

Nedovyesov then moved to the doubles championship, where he and Bessonov took care of Tulsa’s third-seeded duo of Philip Stephens and Ashley Watling, 8-6. It was Nedovyesov’s second consecutive ITA Central Region Doubles Championship, for he won the title in 2008 with teammate Nathan Byrnes.

Nedovyesov and Bessonov now move on to the 2009 ITA Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, hosted by Yale University November 5-8. Nedovyesov competed in singles and doubles play at the event in 2008. It will be Bessonov’s first time to compete at the event.
