OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -
Oklahoma State’s men’s tennis team won its fourth consecutive match in a 6-1 victory over Tyler Junior College on Saturday.
After originally being scheduled to face Missouri-Kansas City, a scheduling conflict forced the Cowboys to schedule a last-minute match with Tyler Junior College.
TJC (0-4), the nation’s second-ranked JUCO team, appeared to have an upset in mind when Adrien Berkowicz and Mitch Martell took an early 3-1 doubles lead on Richard Del Nunzio and Denys Pume. However, the Cowboy duo fired back to win the next six games unanswered.
Singles play was highlighted by Chris Haworth’s straight-sets victory over Berkowicz, the top-ranked JUCO singles player in the nation. Haworth’s victory marked his fourth consecutive win in singles play. Freshman Richard Del Nunzio also continued his stellar play with a 6-4, 6-2 dismantling of Jacob Rother.
The Cowboys will return to action on Feb. 23 when they face Florida Atlantic in Ft. Myers, Fla.
