KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Oklahoma State’s men’s tennis team swept Tennessee Tech 4-0 on Saturday to earn its first win of the 2013 season. After falling short against 19th-ranked Tennessee earlier in the day, the Cowboys fought back with a clean sweep of the Golden Eagles to give head coach Jay Udwadia his first win as a Cowboy. The Cowboys (1-1) marched out to a solid start when the duo of Richard Del Nunzio and Denys Pume defeated Tennessee Tech’s Vasily Eremeev and Artem Tarasov, 8-1. Oleksiy Arovin and Brady Bohrnstedt finished off the doubles point for the Cowboys after powering through Othon Lima and Alvaro Cintas, 8-1. Bohrnstedt and Pume both collected their first-career singles victories as a member of the OSU family after defeating each of their opponents in straight sets. Trevor Horstmann also won his first match of the year with an impressive 6-4, 6-0 victory. Rifat Biktyakov, Chris Haworth and Oleksiy Arovin had each of their matches cut short as the Cowboys wrapped up the overall victory after Pume’s win. Oklahoma State will wrap up its trip to Knoxville with a 5 p.m. matchup on Sunday with East Tennessee State.
