THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Oklahoma State's Zach Olsen birdied the first playoff hole at the 107th Southern Amateur Championship to earn a sudden-death victory on Saturday at The Club at Carlton Woods.
The incoming freshman birdied his 72nd hole to post a closing round of 1-under 71 to get into a three-way playoff with Sam Love and Joey Garber. The trio finished at 12-under 278. Olsen also carded rounds of 64, 73 and 68 to get to his total before carding the 20-foot birdie to claim victory.
With the triumph, the Cordova, Tenn., native gains entry into the PGA Tour's Arnold Palmer Invitational next year.
Olsen also becomes the seventh Cowboy to win the event and the first since Casey Wittenberg in 2003.
