DALLAS - Oklahoma State's men's golf team wrapped up the first day of action on Monday at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate in second place after carding a 36-hole total of 559 at Royal Oaks Country Club.
The Cowboys opened with a 3-under 281 during their first round at the par-71, 7,068-yard layout to stand alone in second place behind Tulsa. OSU carded a 278 during afternoon play to get to its 9-under total and maintain its spot in the team standings. Texas Tech fired a 15-under 269 during the afternoon session to vault to the top of the leaderboard at 557.
SMU's Maxine Blandin used a 63 during his second round to lead the event with a 9-under total of 133.
OSU junior Ian Davis was one of three players to get in at 7-under 135 and finish the day tied for second place. Davis fired rounds of 66 and 69.
Competing individually, junior Kevin Dougherty posted rounds of 68 and 67 to also finish the day at 135.
Junior Talor Gooch came in tied for eighth place after following an opening 71 with a 67 to stand at 138.
Senior Sean Einhaus bounced back from a 77 with a 71 of his own to post a 148 total and tie for 65th.
Sophomore Tanner Kesterson also started the event as an individual and posted rounds of 68 and 74 for a 142 score to tie for 20th place.
OSU will begin its final round tomorrow at 9:20 a.m. and will be grouped with Texas Tech, Iowa and Texas A&M.
