Cowboys Grab Lead At Nicklaus Invitational

DUBLIN, Ohio - Oklahoma State's men's golf team opened play on Monday at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational with a 295 total to hold the lead at Muirfield Village Golf Club.

The Cowboys' 7-over score put them seven shots ahead of Kentucky and Brigham Young at the par-72, 7,352-yard layout heading into tomorrow's final round. Originally scheduled for 54-holes, the event's two-round opening day was shortened to 18 holes due to weather.

Central Florida's Greg Eason posted the day's low round with a 2-under 70.

Coming in one shot behind Eason was OSU junior Ian Davis, who posted a 71 to finish as the only other player under par on the day. Davis used a 5-under 31 on his outward nine that included birdies at Nos. 2, 3, 5, 6 and 8 en route to his 1-under total.

Senior Sean Einhaus also wrapped up the day in the top 10, posting a 74 to come in tied for seventh place.

Sophomore Patrick Winther and freshman Jordan Niebrugge each carded 75s to finish tied for 13th, while freshman Wyndham Clark's 77 tied him for 23rd place.

Sophomore Tanner Kesterson is competing in the event individually and carded a 79 to finish the day tied for 31st place.
