WAIKOLOA, Hawaii - Oklahoma State's men's golf team closed with a 1-under 287 on Friday to finish ninth at the Amer Ari Invitational at Waikoloa Kings' Course. The Cowboys' 54-hole total of 855, 9-under par, was one back of Auburn for eighth place at the par-72, 7074-yard layout. UCLA and Washington tied for first place at 842 before the Bruins eventually prevailed in a sudden-death playoff over the Huskies. Auburn's Dominic Bozzelli fired a closing 67 to finish at 11-under 207 and earn a two-shot victory. Junior Sam Lee posted a 69 to come in as OSU's top finisher, tying for 20th place at 214. Lee's final round included six birdies as well as a bogey-free front nine to help him to his 2-under total for the event. Freshman Jordan Niebrugge was a stroke back of Lee at 215 after carding a 74 to tie for 26th place. Junior Ian Davis' third-straight 72 put him at 216 and tied for 34th, while classmate Talor Gooch finished with a 76 to stand at 218 and tied for 49th place. Junior Kevin Dougherty posted a 72 to finish at 219 and tied for 55th place. The Cowboys will be back in action on Feb. 18 at The Prestige in Palm Springs, California.
