WAIKOLOA, Hawaii - Oklahoma State's men's golf team closed with a 289 during its third round on Friday to finish in ninth place at the Ameri Ari Invitational at the Waikoloa Kings' Course.
The Cowboys finished alone in ninth with a 1-over 865 total and came in one shot behind Arizona State at the par-72, 7,074-yard layout. Texas wrapped up play with an 11-under 277 to finish at 834 and five shots ahead of Southern California in the team race.
USC's Jeffrey Kang and Texas' Jordan Spieth shared medalist honors after each posted a 54-hole total of 205, 11-under.
Sophomore Talor Gooch led the OSU starting five, moving into a seven-way tie for 13th place at 211 after posting an even-par 72. Gooch stood at 4-over par through 11 holes before rallying with four birdies over his final seven holes to move back to level par for the day.
Junior Drew Page came in tied for 97th place at 228 to tie for 97th place.
Sophomore Ian Davis rebounded from a second-round 86 with the squad's round of the day, firing a 1-under 71 to finish at 230 and tied for 103rd.
The Cowboys will be back in action on Feb. 19 when they take part in the Puerto Rico Classic.
