WAIKOLOA, Hawaii - Oklahoma State's men's golf team posted a 291 during its second round on Thursday to slip one spot into ninth place at the Ameri Ari Invitational at the Waikoloa Kings' Course.
Through two rounds, the Cowboys have posted an even-par total of 576 at the par-72, 7,074-yard layout and are two shots off the pace of TCU for the eighth spot. Texas posted a 1-under 287 on Thursday to stand at 19-under 557 and three shots clear of UCLA for the top spot on the leaderboard.
UCLA's Pontus Widegren followed an opening 66 with a 69 to come in with a 9-under 135 total. He will begin third-round action one shot clear of the field.
OSU sophomore Talor Gooch posted the squad's round of the day, firing a 3-under 69 to move into a tie for 14th place at 139. The lone blemish on Gooch's scorecard came on his first hole of the day. After carding a double bogey at the par-3 seventh, he responded with a birdie at the ninth before logging birdies at the 12th and 18th to move into red figures. Gooch closed out his day with birdies on two of his final three holes to register his 3-under day.
Sophomore Brad Gehl carded a 76 to come in tied for 75th place at 149.
Sophomore Ian Davis' 86 gave him a 36-hole total of 159, placing him in 114th.
The Cowboys will begin their final round tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. (HST) and will be grouped with Texas Tech, Chico State and San Jose State.
