Quinn Sharp

Sept. 29, 2009

STILLWATER, Okla. - For the fourth consecutive week, Oklahoma State's Quinn Sharp has been recognized by the College Football Performance Awards for his efforts on the field, as the Cowboy freshman was singled out as the national kickoff specialist performer of the week, it was announced today. Additionally, OSU running back Keith Toston earned honorable mention recognition as running back performer of the week.

Sharp had nine kickoffs in Oklahoma State's 56-6 win over Grambling State last Saturday, with seven of those nine kicks resulting in touchbacks. The other two kicks yielded returns of 18 yards and of 14 yards. Of Sharp's 18 kickoffs this year, 16 have resulted in touchbacks to lead the nation. To put that figure into perspective, only 13 of OSU's 95 kickoffs last year resulted in touchbacks.

Sharp has been a favorite in the College Football Performance Awards objective calculations this season, earning punter performer of the week honors in week one, kickoff specialist performer of the week honors in week two, honorable mention punter performer of the week honors in week three and now his second kickoff specialist performer of the week honor in week four.

As for Toston, the senior running back logged 85 yards on only seven carries against Grambling (12.0 yards per carry). Three of Toston's seven rushes resulted in touchdowns. He did not play after halftime.

College Football Performance Awards recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings that show how individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
