Former Cowboy Standout Lorenzo Turner Passes Away

PONTIAC, Mich. – Former Oklahoma State football standout Lorenzo Turner died Saturday at the age of 61 years old.

Turner was a talented defensive end who played for the Cowboys in 1975 and 1976, helping OSU win the 1976 Big 8 Championship.

During the 1976 season, Turner finished with 83 total tackles, nine tackles for a loss, six pass break ups, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries, including a key recovery in OSU’s Tangerine Bowl victory. He enrolled at Oklahoma State after earning All-America honors at Indian Hills Junior College.

Turner was born Jan. 26, 1953, in Memphis, Tenn., and served as pastor of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Pontiac, Mich.

Services will be held Friday morning at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Pontiac. The family hour is at 10 a.m. and the service begins at 11 a.m.
