STILLWATER – Dressed in full pads, the Oklahoma State football team held its 13th practice of spring ball Tuesday at the Sherman E. Smith Training Facility. After the approximately two hour-long session, coach Mike Gundy shared his thoughts. His comments:

Coach Mike Gundy

On what he saw in the scrimmage:
“The defense played really well today, then the offense made some big plays. Today may have been our most extensive scrimmage. We could have been up in the eighties [in number of plays] without any special teams, so we extended them a little bit and we got a lot of work with a number of players. The team stayed healthy, so I thought it was a good day. They’ll get a much deserved day off tomorrow and we’ll come back Thursday and have a half practice-half scrimmage then we’ll probably have a full scrimmage on Friday.”

On the kick return game:
“We’re not doing enough in the return game to really talk about. We’re teaching a number of guys certain positions on special teams, but we’re just real vanilla in the return game until we get some of those other players here in August that could help us – be a backup on offense and defense and then help us contribute on special teams.”

On the quarterbacks’ development:
“There’s not really anything that’s changed. We’re still running the same plays. We just haven’t gotten very far, but we’ve continued to improve and those guys will get better, but we just haven’t done much with them at this point. From a learning standpoint, it’s all the same.”

On the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Game:
“Obviously, two really good teams. Those guys are impressive. That’s just real basketball and they get up and down the floor.”
