STILLWATER, Okla. - Regardless of the outcome of the Super Bowl XLVII, two Oklahoma State football players will earn Super Bowl rings this year.
Both teams playing in this year's Super Bowl have two Cowboys on their respective rosters, with RB Kendall Hunter and CB Perrish Cox on the San Francisco 49ers and TE Billy Bajema and DT Ryan McBean on the Baltimore Ravens. The four Cowboys in this year's Super Bowl marks an all-time high for OSU.
All four Cowboys are making their Super Bowl debuts.
No Big 12 school has more players on Super Bowl rosters this season than Oklahoma State and only two schools nationally - Miami (seven) and Oregon (five) - top the Cowboys.
Though the years, 17 Oklahoma State players have appeared in the Super Bowl a total of 29 times with Jon Kolb (four times with Pittsburgh), Thurman Thomas (four times with Buffalo), Dexter Manley (three times with Washington), Walt Garrison (twice with Dallas), Terry Brown (twice with Minnesota), Jack Golden (twice - once with the New York Giants and once with Tampa Bay) and Charlie Johnson (twice with Indianapolis) all appearing in multiple Super Bowls.
Former Oklahoma State players have squared off against one another in two Super Bowls - Super Bowl IX, with Terry Brown playing for Minnesota and Jon Kolb for Pittsburgh and Super Bowl XXV, with John Washington playing for the New York Giants and both Thurman Thomas and Matt Monger for the Buffalo Bills.
