Freshman Fiesta: Running Back Herschel Sims

Oklahoma State running back Herschel Sims talks about why he chose OSU, and what he has learned during his freshman season in Stillwater.

A young running back who provided OSU with some of its longest runs from scrimmage last season ... Should be a heavy contributor this fall.

2011 (Freshman): Did not play in the first four games of the season, but became a contributor during the second half of the season on offense and special teams ... Finished third on the team with 242 rushing yards on just 31 carries ... Averaged 7.8 yards per rush ... Had 100-yard rushing games against Baylor (104) and Texas Tech (111) ... His 81-yard TD run against the Bears was OSU's longest play of the season and the longest in the Big 12 last year ... Had a 56-yard run at Texas Tech ... Scored his first collegiate TD on a one-yard plunge against Kansas.

High School: Attended Abilene HS in Abilene, Texas, where he was coached by Steve Warren ... One of the most sought-after signatures in the recruiting class ... Ran for 2,352 yards as a junior and 709 during an injury-plagued senior season ...
