Terrell Signs LOI with Cowboy Basketball

Dec. 5, 2013

STILLWATER — Jared Terrell, originally from Weymouth High School in Weymouth, Mass., who attends Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, has signed a National Letter of Intent with the Oklahoma State men's basketball team, head coach Travis Ford announced today. Terrell will join the Cowboys for the 2014-15 season.

“I just feel like it was the best fit out of the four,” Terrell said. “Coach (Travis) Ford is a really good (person), so is Coach (Steve) Middleton, the assistant coach that recruited me. I just feel like I have a good role. I can go in there and play a good amount of minutes. I had a good feel for the team when I went there.”

A 6-3, 220-pound guard Terrell is a consensus four-star recruit, ranked as high as the No. 36 player nationally according to Future150.com, and is the No. 5 fifth-year player according to HoopScoop.com. He was recruited by many schools, including Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, UConn, Boston College, Rutgers and St. John's, but ultimately chose the Cowboys over his other three finalists of Cincinnati, Rhode Island and Providence.

"We're excited about Jared joining our basketball family," Ford said. "He's a great addition to our team. He's a big, strong guard who can put it on the floor and get to the rim. He's got a very good mid-range game as well, and can step out and make the three. He's also a very strong defender. Jared can make an early impact on our team because of his physicality and versatility."

Terrell joins the trio of Jeff Newberry (6-2, 180-pound guard), Mitchell Solomon (6-9, 220-pound post) and Joe Burton (6-6, 205-pound wing) as Oklahoma State's signing class of 2014. The class has been ranked as the second-best class in the Big 12 and the 18th-best nationally by Scout.com.
