About Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State is coming off an 86-64 victory over Seattle in its season opener. Three different Cowboys recorded double-doubles (points, rebounds) in the victory, led by James Anderson’s 22 points and career-high 15 rebounds. Marshall Moses added 17 points and 11 boards, while Obi Muonelo collected 12 points and 11 rebounds. Roger Franklin scored nine points in his Cowboy debut while Ray Penn chipped in eight in his first game as a Cowboy. OSU shot 45.3 percent from the field while limiting Seattle to just 31 percent. The Cowboys also outrebounded the Redhawks 52-40. The two glaring statistical areas that Oklahoma State was deficient in were three-point shooting (13.3 percent) and free-throw shooting (66.7 percent). The Pokes also committed 16 turnovers.

About Southern
The Southern Jaguars are 0-1 this season after dropping their season opener at Baylor 61-45 Monday night. Despite trailing by 22 at intermission, the Jaguars outscored the Bears 24-18 in the second half for the 16-point loss. No Southern player reached double figures, although guards Nick Walls and Tony McGilveary both scored nine. Southern shot just 28.6 percent from the floor, including 7-of-25 from three-point range. The Jaguar defense did much better, holding Baylor to just 37.7 percent shooting, including 22.2 percent from beyond the arc. The difference all came at the free-throw line, where the Bears had 16 more attempts (27) than did Southern (11).

Quick Notes
Following Saturday’s win, Oklahoma State is now 77-24 (76.2 percent) all-time in season openers, including a current 15-win streak ... the Cowboys are 89-12 (88.1 percent) in season home openers all-time, including a 35-game winning string ... since Gallagher-Iba Arena opened in 1938, OSU has won 70 of its last 73 (95.9 percent) home openers inside the historic building ... head coach Travis Ford already ranks eighth among OSU’s all-time head coaches in victories and third in winning percentage (66.7 percent) ... only Eddie Sutton (70.9 percent) and Henry Iba (67.3) had higher winning percentages ... OSU has won its last 17 non-conference games at home, ranking fifth in school history ... the Cowboys need to win their next two games to move that streak into fourth place ... junior James Anderson needs 13 points to move past John Lucas and into 28th place on the school career scoring list.
