
James Altman begins his seventh season with coach Travis Ford and his second as video coordinator with the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Altman will be responsible for game scout preparation utilizing OSU's advanced video editing system, as well as assisting in recruiting, scheduling and co-directing the Travis Ford Basketball School and coaching clinic. Prior to coming to OSU, Altman served three years on Ford's staff at UMass, as well as spending the 2004-05 season as an assistant coach at Eastern Kentucky. Altman helped lead the Colonels to the 2005 NCAA Tournament after serving as a graduate assistant in 2003-04. While at Eastern Kentucky, Altman was responsible for the recruiting of student-athletes on and off campus, preparing scouting reports on opponents, and coordinating film exchange. He was also responsible for organizing and updating the recruiting database as well as daily recruiting mailouts. Prior to his time at EKU, Altman spent a year at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Fla. The team posted a 25-6 overall record and won the Mid-Florida Conference Championship. The team ended the season ranked 19th in the NJCAA and No. 2 in the Florida Community College Athletic Association. Altman was responsible for monitoring the team's academic progress at Santa Fe, resulting in a 3.05 team grade point average, the highest in the history of the program. Also during his tenure at Santa Fe, Altman was involved with on-the-floor coaching, developing practice plans, and directed the team's off-season individual workout sessions and strength and conditioning programs. Altman was a co-captain and all-conference selection at Hartwick College during his collegiate career. He ended his tenure as a four-year starter, ranking third all-time in three pointers made and eighth in assists. Altman earned his bachelor's degree in sociology from Hartwick in 2002 and is currently working on his master's degree in sports administration. A native of Rockville Centre, N.Y., Altman is a 1998 graduate of South Side High School. He resides in Stillwater. |
