The Reynolds Stadium Legacy |
A catalyst to the Cowboys' success on the diamond was undoubtedly the
construction of
Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. Named in
honor of former Oklahoma A&M and New York Yankee pitching great Allie
Reynolds, the $2.2 million structure helped position the OSU program
among the nation's elite.
With the start of the 2011 season, Reynolds Stadium will begin its 30th
year as home to OSU Baseball. Over the years, the 4,000-seat stadium has
seen periodic improvements, including landscaping, padded fencing and
the addition of left-field bleachers, to name a few. However, what was
once the crown jewel of Big 8 baseball stadiums has been surpassed by
other facilities in the Big 12 and surrounding region.
Year after year, the programs that are successful are those that possess
not only quality coaches and talented student-athletes, but top-flight
facilities, as well. These much-needed improvements will help the
Cowboys compete consistently on the diamond and propel OSU Baseball into
the national spotlight. In addition, a modern, fan-friendly facility
will once again make Stillwater an attractive site to host NCAA
Regionals and Super Regionals. Members of the Home Run Club will play a
key role in this project. |
