STILLWATER, Okla. - Texas A&M starter Khalid Ballouli pitched seven innings of five-hit shutout ball to lead the Aggies to a 4-1 win over Oklahoma State in baseball action Saturday night at Reynolds Stadium.
Ballouli struck out seven and walked four to improve to 6-2 on the year. A&M won the series and moved to 34-18 and 13-10 in the Big 12 while OSU fell to 33-17 and 11-11 in league action.
A&M took a 2-0 lead in the fifth off of Cowboy starter Chris Reilly. Third baseman Ryan Wardinsky opened the inning with a single then scored on a double by second baseman Ty Garner. Garner advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by shortstop Matt Alexander.
Right fielder Neal Stephenson made it 3-0 for the Aggies with a solo homer to right in the sixth inning. A&M added another run in the seventh on a RBI double by left fielder David Evans to push the advantage to 4-0.
Oklahoma State broke through with a run in the bottom of the eighth on a solo homer by second baseman Nebasett Brown, his fourth of the year.
Reilly was tagged with the loss to drop to 6-2 on the year. He allowed four runs, three earned on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work.
The teams will close out the series tomorrow at 2 p.m. The Cowboys will recognize their nine seniors prior to the contest Sunday.
