STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State picked up its second-straight win in dominating fashion Wednesday at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium as the Cowboys notched an 11-0 triumph over St. Gregory’s.
The win, which marked the 299th of OSU head coach Frank Anderson’s career, helped the Cowboys improve to 2-3 on the season heading into a weekend home series against Bowling Green State.
Senior Blake Barnes had a career day in the first start of his OSU career. The right-hander tossed six innings, the longest outing of his career, and also set a personal best with six strikeouts. He allowed just one walk and four hits to earn the win.
OSU took command in the third and fourth innings, striking for three runs in each frame.
In the third, each of the Cowboys’ runs was unearned; two runs scored on a throwing error, and Womack brought home the other with a sacrifice fly.
Another three-spot fueled the Cowboys in the fourth. Fish got the scoring started with his first RBI of the night, which came on a single, and OSU made it 5-0 on an RBI by Robbie Rea. Fish came home with the sixth run on a double play.
The Cowboys also scored late, adding a pair of runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth. Fish brought home both runs in the seventh with a double, while Whaley added a two-RBI double and Jones an RBI single in the eighth to complete the scoring.
OSU opens its series against BGSU Friday at 4 p.m.
