Most of the students on campus were between 9-12 years old when this happened before and I am sure they remember the tragedy, but this time it is hitting them in a more personal way. As alumni we are all hurt in our hearts for the three families who lost loved ones, who should come first, then the girls team, then the athletic department and whole campus. BUT---the alumni go back further than any of the immediately close group and this just puts a hole in our hearts. Unfortunately there have been others--Ray Murphy at a wrestling match. I was there that evening and the long time taken to assess him and then move him, was a gut wrenching scene. When I heard the news this morning, ironically I was sitting in the exact same place I was sitting when the other airplane crash occurred. And again I just yelled out, "NO"---and then "Why? Not Again!" Please sign my name to the banner, as we have all lost another part of our family--coaches and very special alumni. Prayers are with everyone in Stillwater that is directly affected, as well as other family members that may live in other places. I love OSU, my heart is broken because it is my family.Blessings and prayers to all of you that will have to deal directly with the events that have happened.

Much like so many OSU couples including the Branstetters, my wife and I met at OSU and my daughter is a student now. It's our second home. Although I did not know him, I'll never forget coach Budkes' address to the crowd after Bedlam 2008 and the tears of joy he had in his speech thanking us, of all the hard work he and his staff put in, we felt he needed to thank us OSU fans! That's how I'll always recall him. All four touched so many lives and that's what we all should strive to do. They gave far more than they took. They were coaches, mentors, teachers, fathers, and mothers. Families, you should have great pride. It's a heart wrenching loss...

Coach Budke and Coach Serna were two of the nicest people. I used to work part time at OSU in the evenings, and the first time our paths crossed, they both introduced themselves to me and asked my name. Everytime the saw me in the building after that first time, they called me by name. I didnt see them often, but they always remembered my name and took a moment to say hello. My heart goes out to the Budke and Serna families as well as the family of Olin & Paula Branstetter. I am very sorry for your loss and for the loss to the OSU family as well.

I graduated from OSU in 2007 and my senior year I worked for OSU athletics. When I worked the women's basketball games, I remember seeing both Coach Budke and Coach Serna on the sidelines and they were so passionate. They were and will remain an inspiration to me. They turned our women's basketball program into something special and I am honored to have been there to witness it. As for the Branstetters, I received an academic scholarship from them through the school of business and was able to sit with Paula at a dinner. They were very giving people and loved OSU. All will be missed and remembered forever! Prayers go out to the families of each.
- Carly Maderer (Houston, TX)

I am a women's basketball reporter at the University of Kansas. I respect what Kurt and Miranda were contributed to not only the sport and their program, but to the face of women's basketball. I wish the best to the families and friends of these four individuals.
- Kathleen Gier (Lawrence, KS)

I am very blessed and fortunate that I had the opportunity to be around coach Budke and Serna. If it weren't for them, I would have never learned the true elements of basketball. I will never forget how energetic coach Serna was and how she made me laugh with her jokes. I also won't forget how Coach Budke embedded in my brain that can't is not a word. He inspired me to try my hardest and to never give up. I will cherish all the games I attended, the high fives I would give to the team, the pizza parties, the camps and the feeling I got when they would thank me for being a cowgirl supporter. I remember coach Budke telling me at camp that if I continued to work hard, someday I might be able to play for him. It breaks my heart to see such amazing people go but I am honored that I got the chance to be around them and witness the incredible things they have accomplished. I will never forget them.
- Jessica Porter (Stillwater, OK)

I was living in Nashville in 2001 when the fist plane crash occurred, so I didn't get the full impact of how it felt to experience such a heart breaking loss, but since moving back here last year, and visiting my Alma Mater numerous times, I can say it feels like I have lost family members. I watched the memorial service today, and it was very moving, and very heart felt. I will plan on attending some Cowgirl games this year, "Loyal and True"!

I was a student in 2011 and worked for the football department and new some of those
lost personally and the rest by association since the athletic department was one big
family and the loss then was tragic. Hearing what happened friday was almost too
surreal to process that it could have happened again to the University. I have heard
nothing but wonderful things about all four who perished in that tragic flight. I can
only say that my thoughts and prayers go out to the family of those lost. I also send
out my strength to the women's basketball team and the rest of the athletic
department, and the University. We are Oklahoma State, we have risen above tragedy by
coming together and showing our true Cowboy spirit. God Bless you all in this time of
mourning, healing, and understanding that life is short and precious and truly a gift.
Proud and immortal bright shines your name...

I'm proud to be at OSU and be apart of its family. That family atmosphere is what
encouraged me to come here. Although I didn't know any of the four personally, it
hurts to know they're no longer part of that family. However, they may not be here
physically, they're are still here in spirit. So, just as we remember the ten, we'll
honor the four as well and they'll live on as our OSU family in our hearts. Their
passing was a tragedy, but it's safe to say they are in a much better place now.
- Jacob Redway (Chattanooga, OK)

These two coaches provided me with some of the best memories while I was a student at
OSU (2000-2008). As a member of the spirit band, I had the opportunity to travel with
them to post season tournaments as well as play at all of their home games. Coach
Budke was such a great supporter of the spirit band. I'll never forget the first time
he wore that orange jacket and the sell out crowd for Bedlam. I'll always remember
Coach Serna's smile and enthusiasm on the sideline. I was a sophomore for the first
crash, and that was a life changing moment for me. This, too, will have an impact on
my life. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and my Cowboy family. Proud

I had the honor of sharing many moments and conversations with Miranda when we both

off of it. My heart aches with her loss. My thoughts and prayers are with her
family, Coach Budke's family and the entire OSU community.

- Kayla Moore (Stillwater, OK)

To the Branstetter boys:

Your parents were two of our most special friends. I knew Olin as a fraternity
brother from our OSU college days.

It was my privilege to fly with Olin on several occasions including a very extensive
fishing trip into Canada. Certainly he was truly an experienced and professional
pilot. With me in the cab, he always checked the outside moving parts of the airplane
before entering.

He, also, was a devout Christian and strongly believed in the powers of the Almighty.
As we taxied to the end of the runway, he would always stop and say a prayer just
before takeoff.

Olin and Dusty now belong to the ages and are in the loving arms of their Maker. A
void of sorrow will always be left in the hearts of all who were privileged to have
known them!

Yours sincerely,
- Elmore and Charlene Bathurst (Blackwell, OK)

The bell still chimes, though no one hears. The fountain still flows, though now with
tears. America's brightest orange will shine once again - lighting the way for the
four, as it did for the ten.

be forgotten. Go Cowboys

My family and I had the opportunity to meet Coach Budke and Coach Serna as well as the
entire OSU Women's Basketball family just a few weeks ago on a recruiting trip. We had
a great visit and felt as if we had known them for years rather than hours. I have
never met more kind and genuine people and our hearts are saddened with the tragic
news. Our thoughts and prayers go to their families and the entire OSU Community.
- Nitha White (Shelby, NE)

Thoughts and Prayers with Family and friends during this tragedy.
- Kristen Knight (Tahlequah, OK)

Coach Budke probably didn't know our names, but he knew we were two of the bus
trippers that followed the Cowgirls to away games. He would always give me a hug and
thank my husband and I for supporting the Cowgirls. Coach Serna was always smiling and
upbeat. Every time I would see her she would give me a hug and ask how I was and what
was going on in my life. My prayers are with their families and our OSU family.
- Louise Soderstrom (Broken Arrow, OK)

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the 4, the players, coaches, students,
and fans. Stick together cowboys! God bless and go pokes.
- Julie (Bartlesville, OK)

Honor the four. They will be forever remembered in our hearts.
- Fred Mattox (Drumright, OK)

Your University family has my heartfelt sympathy at the loss of your Women's
Basketball coaches and the pilot and his wife. My sympathy goes out their individual
families, players, and friends. One always has to ask why these things happen and the
answer is not easy to find, if ever. I work security in the Jacobson Athletic Building
at Iowa State and want your university family to know that your football team showed
nothing but class both before and after the game Friday night and I talked to one of
your quarterbacks before the game and you couldn't have asked for a finer young man to
represent your university. The employees I supervise in the building commented that
your team was the politest and nicest young men they had dealt with all season. Please
know that we have you in our hearts in Iowa and wish you the happy memories that your
basketball coaches brought to your university and the quality of coaching they shared
with your young players. Let those happy memories lift you when you think of getting
down. May we always remember to honor those who work to improve our lives through
their service to our young people. You are all in my thoughts.
- Don Lester (Boone, IA)

I was so sorry to hear about the tragic loss of the coaches at OSU. My son and I are

This is the type of news you can't even fathom. The words don't seem to mean anything
because you are convinced that it isn't true. I have never wanted to be home with my
Oklahoma family so much. Putting on orange every game day always makes me feel
connected and I will never take that for granted. We all know they will be cheering
extra loud every time the girls take the floor, their seats are just a little higher
now!
- Rebecca (Philadelphia, PA)

My thoughts and well wishes are with the families and friends of the four wonderful

missed and will forever be remembered!!
- Alyssa Rayner (Stillwater, OK)

After playing under Coach Budke and Coach Serna for 2 wonderful years, I can honestly
say they touched my life in a way no other coaches have. They were two special people
who helped me become the lady I am today. I will forever be grateful for my 2 years
spend along side then on the court. Thanks to both of them, I'm still playing the game
I love, and will continue to play in honour of those two. The memories I have will
last me a lifetime and beyond.

All the way from Australia I am sending my prayers to you all, wishing I could be back

was. She was always full of life. So passionate & driven. She was loyal & cared deeply
for her family, friends, team, & coaching staff. She was a true jewel in the coaching
world! She will be greatly missed along with the 3 others. May God's peace, love, &
comfort surround all that have suffered the loss of these. 4 amazing individuals.

"Proud and immortal, though broken and torn Four taken, the rest of a Nation left to
mourn

The chill of November never brought such cold Though not unfamiliar, like a nitmare
retold

Too fresh, the wounds of a snowy Colorado night Too surreal, the though of another
fateful flight

The bell still chimes, though now no one hears The fountain still flows, though now
with tears

With broken hearts and shaken to the core We will Ride on, in due rememberance of the
four

America's brightest orange will shine once again Lighting the way for the four, as it
did for the ten

Proud and immortal, arm in arm with me and you And ever you'll find them, still loyal
and true."
- Miranda Moorman (Leedey, OK)

people. May God bless the families in their mourning and OSU in another tremendous
loss. Pokes always unite and this is another way that we can show the country why we
are Cowboys!

Our deepest prayers and sympathy to the families of these 4 great Cowboys. We will
truly miss them & the positive impact all 4 have made on so many young people over so

families, friends & the Cowboy Nation.
- Rodd & Dona Moesel

Unbelievable. Hard to understand why and again. I'd like to think Coach Budke & Coach

and give the Serna way. May God bless you and comfort you.
- Jean Smith, OSU '85 (Dallas, TX)

I am a former OSU student 1996-97 school year.

I am making prayers for OSU head coach Kurt Budke's and Miranda Serna's family from
Japan, too.

I kew Coach Budke since 1993 which he made undefeated team at TVCC.

I knew Miranda Serna since 1995 and she had counted me as the best friend for me. I
have no idea why the journalists didn't describe about her because I always remember
she was a good point/shooting guard and a good three point shooter!

She made several three point when we needed in the key point of the game while we were
in the national tournament at Tyler,TX 1995-96 season at TVCC. She was the sixth woman
in the team at that time, but I remember the most was she made starting five in the
FINAL.

I am so glad I had taken a picture of her and me together when we made 1996 national
champions!!!

Why do I know these things?

Because I was a photographer of his/her team and I surely filmed national championship
game...!

It was little unbelievable for me that they were coaching the college where I was
attending.

I am proud of them and surely thankful to God to become a friend of theirs...
- Yasuhiro Tanaka (Soja-City Okayama, Japan)

Watching the memorial service in Gallagher-Iba Arena brought back sad memories. I was
a freshman when Dr. Blizzard was killed in a plane crash in Ethiopia and his memorial
service was held in ths same place. Olin Branstetter was two years ahead of me and an
outstanding AG student and ROTC Cadet. He was a person that had success written all
over everything he did. My sincere condolences to all the Budke, Serna and the
Brantstetter families.
- Don Bliss, Animal Science 1954 (Palmyra, PA)

We are forever blessed and a better OSU because of Coach Budke, Coach Serna, Olin and
Paula Branstetter.

- Alan and Sherry Rupp (Oakley, KS)

We are an OSU family, and are broken hearted with this tragedy. We thought the one ten
years ago would never be repeated. Our hearts go out to all the families, and to all
the girls on the team, and their families. This affects all of Stillwater, all of
Oklahoma, and all who ever had any connection with the coaches, or OSO. They are all
in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless.
- Shirley Hedrick (Tulsa, OK)

My condolences go out to OSU for the loss of special 4 people. I knew Miranda
personally and got the privilege of assisting in coaching her in her middle school and
early high school years when she played for the Mora Rangerettes. She has ALWAYS been
and amazing person and I feel blessed to have known her. We too are torn apart here in
this small community by this tragedy. She was our star. I will miss her tremendously
as we still kept in touch and she never failed to send me a program every season along
with a card or note. Coach Budke seemed like a very nice and genuine man. My prayers
go out to the families, friends and the OSU cowgirl team who must endure this loss.
May the 4 who perished Rest in Peace and may God comfort those of us with empty
hearts. God Bless.
- Jeanie Abeyta (Mora, NM)

My prayers goes out to the FOUR that lost their life. I'm just an OSU fan that loves
the school & I feel like I've lost family members on Friday morning when I heard the

something was wrong. I heard a 65yr old shock & sadness in his voices. We are all
family when we love this "Great School called OSU"!

is not that of permanent loss,
but the tender sense of sadness
that comes in saying
good-bye for now.
- Lynn Knight (Oklahoma City, OK)

My wife and I, were shaken by the news. We cannot imaging the pain the families of the
coaches and two alumni are going through. Our thoughts and prayers to them, the
players, the coaches and the entire Stillwater community. May God strenghten, comfort
and guide the OSU FAMILY! GO POKES!!!!!!!!!!
- Tony and Cynthia Goyang (Midland, TX)

OSU Alumn here. I can remember going to games and seeing coach Budke in his orange
blazer, and wondering what the heck he was wearing. It took a while for that orange
blazer to sink in with me. I'll never forget seeing him in that blazer on game days,
and all the love, support, and motivation he gave his players every day. I didn't know
coach Serna except in passing a few times. What I learned and remembered from watching
her on the court though was that her strong willed and amazing didication and work
ethic never yielded even in times of struggle.

Forever Loyal, Forever True. Forever OSU.

You will be greatly missed by many coach Budke and coach Serna.
- Whitney Robertson (Dallas, TX)

- Randy Phillis (Booker, TX)

It will be a day that you will always remember where you were when you heard the news.
As I heard the ESPN anchor talk about another OSU Tragedy, I was dazed and find it
unbelievable that this could happen to our Cowboy Family twice. As my eyes tear up
thinking about those lost, I believe our fallen coaches would want our grief to be
turned into to a positive by us coming together to help those in our community of
loyal State Alumni, Students, Staff and fans. Let us focus on never forgetting Coach
Budke and Coach Serna’s smiles and remember their families and our OSU Cowgirls as
they continue on during this difficult season. ORANGE POWER
- Kim Shelton (Yukon, OK)

May the peace and strength of God be with you during this time. My thoughts and
prayers are with the OSU family.

Coach Budke and Miranda so much.

They were so fun and brought so much joy and enthuiasm to the game. I didn't know him

over the loss. God Bless All of You.

I am an Ok state fan from afar. Sports a not a big priority for me now as a 53 yr old
man. Other things are now more important to me in life. When I heard all the good
things that people said about Coach Budke and Ms Serna, I was heartbroken. I may dwell
on certain things to long and people say life goes on. There now is an tremendous void
in a lot of young people's live. I believe that the world has lost 2 tremendous
assets.
- Mark Allen (Gardner, KS)

Being part of the OSU family means supporting each other through the painful times as
well as the joyful times. I'm an alum ('82) and even though I have lived in Oregon for
many years now, I became a big fan of Coach Budke's Cowgirls and was thrilled when
they played on TV and I could watch their games. My heartfelt sympathies to the
families and the team, you always have an extended family with the Cowboys.

Go Cowgirls!

Coach Budke recruited some of my players while at Allen County. Where I first met
him. Always treated you as if you were his long lost friend. Worked camps with him
and for him. What a blessing it was. Coach Serna, a very classy lady. Worked camp at
OSU for them this summer, and got to attend the Rice game. Both are now special
memories for me. Only fitting Coach Budke won his last game. We should all be so
lucky. Thoughts and prayers to the family and the OSU family.

“I worked for Coach Budke and Coach Serna in 2007 as a women’s basketball manager. I can tell you that both those individuals are as quality of people as you will find. They both went out of their way to make me feel important every single day. Coach Budke gave me an opportunity to work at the school I love and I’ll be forever grateful for that. Although I am deeply saddened he is gone, I do know that by being around him on a day to day basis made me a better person.” – Blake Allen
