Cowgirl Softball secures series win over UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. — A pair of two-run home runs from Amanda Hasler late in the game lifted No. 21 Oklahoma State Softball to a 4-3 victory over UCF in extra innings Saturday at the UCF Softball Complex.
The Cowgirls improved to 27-15 overall and 8-8 in the Big 12, while the Golden Knights dropped to 26-20-1 on the season and 7-11 in the conference.
The first of Hasler's two home runs gave OSU a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning, but the Golden Knights' Izzy Mertes hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game.
Hasler delivered the game-winning blast in the eighth inning to score Rosie Davis. Mertes hit an RBI double in the bottom of the inning to cut the deficit to one, but Ruby Meylan struck out Coco Jaimes to seal the win.
Meylan (17-6) struck out 10 while allowing three runs on six hits in a complete game. Kaitlyn Felton dipped to 11-4 with the loss.
The Cowgirls return to action at 7 p.m. Wednesday for a non-conference matchup against No. 3 Texas in Cowgirl Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPNU and can be heard on the Varsity Network app.
