May 03, 2023 | Cowgirl Softball
DENTON, Texas – Despite leading through four innings, the No. 7/6 Oklahoma State softball team fell to North Texas, 5-1, at Lovelace Stadium Wednesday evening.
With the loss, OSU fell to 41-10 and UNT moved to 29-20.
After a scoreless first inning, the Pokes grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second as Chyenne Factor launched a solo home run over the center field wall, her first long ball since April 14.
In the bottom half of the inning, OSU starter Kelly Maxwell went three up, three down, picking up a pair of strikeouts in the process. On the night, the Cowgirls' starter struck out seven in 5.0 innings of work.
Maxwell held the Mean Green scoreless until the fifth inning, where they posted a three-spot following an RBI single and heads-up baserunning on an OSU fielding error to take the lead, 3-1.
The Cowgirls couldn't get anything going in their half of the sixth; UNT added two runs on OSU reliever Lexi Kilfoyl to extend its lead to four runs.
Despite getting a baserunner in the seventh to give them some life, the Cowgirls couldn't piece together a comeback bid and dropped the contest, 5-1.
OSU looks to bounce back as it hosts No. 1/1 Oklahoma from May 5-7 in its final regular series season of the year. Each game of the Bedlam series can be seen on the ESPN family of networks and heard on The Varsity Network.
