July 20, 2017 | Cowgirl Golf
EDMOND, Okla. – Oklahoma State golfer Alexis Sadeghy capped off a month to remember with a 1-up match-play victory over Oklahoma's Sydney Youngblood in the Women's Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur Championship on Thursday at Oak Tree National.
The Cowgirl senior, who also won the WOGA Stroke Play Championship in record fashion on June 20, now holds both of the major Oklahoma amateur titles.
"I've been working hard and playing pretty well this summer, so it felt really great to win both of these titles," Sadeghy said. "The level of competition at these events was outstanding, and it really forced me to play my best golf."
Sadeghy won a pair of thrilling 19-hole matches to reach the finals of the State Amateur Championship. She defeated Oklahoma City's Melissa Eldredge, followed by Tulsa's Marla Souvannasing to reach the title match, which also went the full 18 holes.
At the Stroke Play Championship, Sadeghy shot a bogey-free 5-under 66 at the Muskogee Country Club to win in record fashion. The 66 was a career-low round, and gave her back-to-back titles in the event.
