Cowgirl Golf Falls In Bedlam Cup Afternoon Rally

NORMAN, Okla. – The Oklahoma women's golf team used an afternoon rally at the Jimmy Austin Golf Club to take down Oklahoma State, 8.5-5.5, and capture the Bedlam Cup title for the first time since 2013.

The Cowgirls had won the previous two Bedlam Cup showdowns, including last year's 13.5-2.5 win at Karsten Creek, and still lead the overall series 3-2 since the match-play series began in 2012.

Thanks to wins from Linnea Johansson, Isabella Deilert, Chih-Min Chen and Maddie McCrary, the Cowgirls led, 4-3, after the first 18 holes.

But in the afternoon session, the Sooners reeled off five wins on their home course to seal the win.

Deilert, a senior, finished her career undefeated against OU in Bedlam Cup matches. Deilert defeated Sooner Valerie Tanguay, 4&2, in the morning and was all-square against Julienne Soo in the afternoon to give her a career 5-0-1 mark against OU.

Emma Broze picked up OSU's lone afternoon victory with a 2&1 win over Karen Arimoto.

The Cowgirls are the defending Big 12 Conference champions, and will look to defend their title next week in San Antonio, Texas. Kenzie Neisen, the league's two-time defending individual champ, and the Cowgirls will begin play at The Dominion Country Club on April 21.
