Cowgirls To Host Abilene Christian In WNIT Action

STILLWATER – For the sixth time in program history, Oklahoma State's women's basketball program will compete in the Women's National Invitation Tournament it was announced tonight. OSU will host Abilene Christian on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Stillwater.
The Cowgirls, who enter play with a record of 17-14, earned a spot in the field as the Big 12 Conference's automatic qualifier. The Wildcats, the automatic qualifier out of the Southland Conference, come to town sporting a 22-8 mark on the year. The winner will advance to take on the winner of the Friday's contest between SMU and Louisiana Tech.
Thursday's contest will mark the first between the two programs.
OSU last played in the WNIT in 2012, winning six consecutive home games capped by its victory over James Madison in the championship game. The Cowgirls are 11-4 all time in WNIT play, including an 11-0 mark inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
This year's WNIT appearance extends OSU's school-record string of postseason bids to eleven. OSU participated in the WNIT in 2009 and 2011 before winning its first-ever WNIT title in 2012. The Cowgirls made NCAA appearances in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
