IRVING, Texas – Big 12 Conference champion Oklahoma State is well represented on the 2017 Big 12 Soccer Awards, which were voted on by the conference's head coaches and released today by the league office.
OSU junior Haley Woodard was named the 2017 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year as well as an All-Big 12 First Team forward, while Colin Carmichael was named the 2017 Big 12 Coach of the Year. Joining Woodard on the All-Big 12 First Team is midfielder Anna Beffer, while defender Laurene Tresfield was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team. Also joining the Cowgirls' list of honorees are Camy Huddleston and Kim Rodriguez, who were selected for the Big 12 All-Freshman Team.
Woodard becomes the third OSU player to earn Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors and gives the Cowgirls the award for a second consecutive year as Courtney Dike picked up that honor in 2016. Yolanda Odenyo was named the league's top offensive player in 2008.
The selection of Woodard and Beffer also gives OSU multiple All-Big 12 First Team honorees for the first time since a program-record five Cowgirls were named first-team all-conference in 2011.
The All-Big 12 distinction is the first for Woodard, Beffer and Tresfield, while Carmichael was selected as the Big 12 Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his career. In his 13th season at the helm, Carmichael was previously chosen as the league's top coach in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2011.
Carmichael led the Cowgirls to a 15-2-2 regular season that saw OSU capture the sixth Big 12 championship in program history after being picked to finish sixth in the standings in a preseason vote of the league's head coaches. The Cowgirls finished 8-1-0 in league play, tying the school record for conference wins in a season and claiming the third regular-season title in program history and first since 2011.
Despite playing in just 14 games this season, Woodard is tied for the Big 12 lead with seven goals, and she has also added three assists to rank fourth in the league with 17 points. In conference-only games, Woodard tallied a league-best four goals and nine points.

Beffer's career-high assists output is the fifth highest in a season in program history, and she has moved into the top 10 on OSU's career assists list as well.
Beffer has also recorded a career-high four goals this season. Three of those were game winners, which is tied for the third most in the conference.

Tresfield has chipped in two goals and an assist this season. Both of her goals have been game winners, including her golden goal in the 100th minute against No. 8 Texas in the regular season finale that clinched a Big 12 championship for OSU.
