Miller Claims Scholar Athlete of the Year Honor

NEW ORLEANS – Former Cowboy Nick Miller has been named as the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's Male Co-Athlete of the Year for the 2016 outdoor season.
Miller won his first NCAA title during the outdoor season and his fourth Big 12 title in the hammer throw to close out his career as a Cowboy. He set the Big 12 meet record in the hammer throw twice, with his most recent attempt also claiming the No. 1 mark in school history.
The British international was impressive in the classroom as well, making it onto four all-Big 12 Academic teams during his tenure at Oklahoma State. He graduated from OSU with a degree in University Studies – Education, and will continue his hammer throw career this August when he represents his home nation of Great Britain at the XXXI Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro.
Three other Cowboys made the USTFCCCA's academic team of 570 athletes, including Big 12 cross country champion Vegard Oelstad, two-time Big 12 Champion Craig Nowak and newcomer Bradley Johnson.
On the women's side, nine Cowgirls made the prestigious list, led by Norwegian Olympian Ingeborg Loevnes and NCAA champion Kaela Edwards.
The list also included Big 12 champion Clara Nichols, three-time first-team All-American Savannah Camacho, All-Americans Jennifer Celis and Anna Boyert, and all-conference honorees Kaylee Dodd, Monika Juodeskaite and Natalie Baker.
