Cowboys Capture Aggie Invite Title For Third Time

BRYAN, Texas — Oklahoma State's men's golf team picked up its third victory of the season on Sunday, edging out the field at the Aggie Invitational at Traditions Golf Club to win the event for the third time.
The Cowboys carded a 289 during their third round at the par-72, 7,146-yard layout to finish at even par, 864, and two shots clear of LSU. The win was OSU's second in its last four starts and its first Aggie Invitational crown since 2009. The Cowboys won the tournament for the first time in 2005.
Kristoffer Ventura became OSU's second medalist this season, joining sophomore Brendon Jelley. The sophomore closed with a 71 to move from second into a tie for first place with Arkansas' Alvaro Ortiz at 4-under 212.
With his first career victory, Ventura becomes the third Cowboy to win the event, joining Rickie Fowler and Peter Uihlein.
Ventura began his round with pars at the first and second before posting his first birdie of the day at the third. He moved to 2-under for the day with a birdie at the sixth before turning at even-par 36. After carding a bogey at the 11th, Ventura answered with a birdie at the 12th and moved back under par with a birdie at the 15th before closing his day with three consecutive pars.
Senior Jordan Niebrugge fired his low round of the event on Sunday, posting a 71 as well to finish in a tie for 12th place at 218.
Joining Niebrugge at 218 was junior Wyndham Clark, who closed with a 73 to get to his total.
Redshirt freshman Nick Heinen closed with a 78 to finish at 224 and tied for 26th place.
Jelley posted a 74 during his third round to get in with a 225 total and tied for 32nd place.
The Cowboys will be back in action on April 16 when they begin play at The Maxwell in Ardmore, Okla.
