UCA Postgame Notes
November 14, 2016 | Cowboy Basketball
- The Cowboys topped the century mark for a second straight game to open the season. The last time OSU reached 100 points in back-to-back games was in 1993-94 (3 straight games).
- Phil Forte paced the Cowboy offense with a game-high 31 points. This is the second highest tally of his career behind only his 32-point game against North Texas in 2014-15.
- Forte was a perfect 11-of-11 from the free throw line tonight, which extends his streak to 19 straight makes dating back to last season. It is the best performance from the line by an OSU player since Markel Brown made all 13 attempts at Texas Tech on Jan. 31, 2012.
- Jawun Evans added 23 points and Jeffrey Carroll had 20 to give OSU three players with at least 20 points for a second straight game. Prior to this stretch, the last time OSU had three players with at least 20 points was on Jan. 21, 2009 against Missouri.
- The trio of Forte, Jawun Evans and Jeffrey Carroll have combined to score 152 of OSU's 204 in the year's opening two games.
- Jeffrey Carroll recorded his third career double-double with 20 points and a career-high tying 11 rebounds.
- The victory is the 91st of Brad Underwood's career (91-14 career record). He currently has the best win percentage of any active coach in Division I basketball.
- A 11-0 run for the Cowboys midway through the second half helped OSU separate from the Bears.
- The Cowboys jumped out to an 8-0 lead and hit their first six shots on the night.
- Lindy Waters III earned his first career start in his second career game.
- OSU is off to a 2-0 start for the ninth straight season. The last time OSU lost in one of its first two games was in 2007-08, when North Texas took down the Cowboys, 82-73, in Denton.
- OSU is now 3-0 all-time against Central Arkansas and 54-8 (.871) all-time against current members of the Southland.
- Brad Underwood is now 5-0 against UCA for his career.
- The Cowboys are 54-8 (.871) all-time against current members of the Southland Conference, and will face two more Southland opponents this season. OSU will take on New Orleans (OSU leads series 8-3) on Nov. 16 and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (OSU leads series 9-0) on Dec. 22.
- Gallagher-Iba Arena is one of the toughest venues for opponents in the country. Since 1989, the Cowboys are 199-7 (.966) in non-conference games in GIA. All-time OSU is 412-52 (.888) in GIA against non-con foes.
- OSU has made at least one three-pointer in 517 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 13, 2001.
