The Oklahoma State Cowboys will launch their 2014 football season with a neutral field game against the Florida State Seminoles at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The official announcement was made by OSU, Florida State, the Dallas Cowboys and ESPN.
The prime time game will be played on Aug. 30.
“It doesn't get better than that,” Holder said. “What an opportunity to play the defending national champions and Heisman Trophy winner (quarterback Jameis Winston). It would be hard not to rank them No. 1 next year (in the preseason).”
The Cowboys and Seminoles will be meeting for just the fifth time with Florida State holding a 3-1 series advantage. The schools last played in the 1985 Gator Bowl. They haven't met in a regular season matchup since the Seminoles visited Stillwater in 1978.
The game will also mark the first time that Oklahoma State has faced an opponent from the Atlantic Coast Conference. While OSU has faced several current members of the ACC, none have taken place while those schools held ACC membership.
